The Ties That Blinds
Chapter One



This is a story about a young teenage girl's life whose name is Keira Lana Evans. And, that's me! My life is all about my family, best friends, school, crush - which you will know later, trouble and more. My mom, Shantayra Maryanne Evans, an ex-model. She was once a model and often brought my older brother when he was small to her photo shoots. My brothers and I were child models before, but mom gave us the choice whether to pursue on that career or not. Christopher Syre Evans, my twin-brother, also known as Chris, is thirteen minutes older than I which means I'm the youngest in the family. Nicholas Farrell Evans, my fave brother, also known as Nick, is really great at hip-hop and street dancing. He's two years older than Chris and I. What makes him my fave brother is that he often spoil me while Chris always make me into trouble. Carlando Ryan Evans, my dad, works as a music and lyrics composer and likes to spoil me as I'm the youngest child and the only girl he has. My family and I now live in Los Angeles. My mom is a Filipino-Thai while my dad is a white American.




"Eden, hurry up! Your friends are waiting outside!" shouted Mrs James, Eden's mom "I'm coming!" Eden went out of her room and said, "Bye mom!" "What took her so long?" asked Roxxi impatiently. "It's our first day in high school and we are gonna be late," "Oh there she is!" I said. By now, you might be wondering who are Eden and Roxxi. They are my best friends in the whole wide world. Roxxi Jane Ryan, also known as the scene girl, is the mysterious but fun to be with while Eden Katherine James, also known as the music lover, is the sweet kind of girl that every parents want their child to be and me, also known as the skater girl, am wacky and also loves music just like Eden. Now, back to the story. "What are you wearing?" said Roxxi shockingly. "Ya...it's kinda...too nerdy," I said. You might be wondering what she was wearing so let's go straight to the point. Eden was wearing a T-shirt that has the caption: "I'm a nerd". "Dude, you should change, by the way, your home is right in front of us," I said. "No. I'm not gonna change because I don't want to be flirt by cute and hot guys," said Eden seriously. "You don't want to be flirt by cute and hot guys?" I asked. "I meant, you don't like cute and hot guys?" I asked curiously. "It's not that I don't like them," Eden paused for a while. "but I tend to get very nervous and could not speak when a cute or even hot guys asking me out or something," "Relax...it's not that they're gonna eat you," said Roxxi. Then, the three of us continued our way our new school. When we reached the front of our school corridor, we did our usual thing although its dumb. "Now, lift one foot and when I count to three, we'll step into this school corridor together. Okay?" asked Roxxi. "Ahuh..." said Eden and I. "One. Two," "Ouch!" I screamed as someone accidentally bumped into me and caused myself to fall. "I'm so sorry. Are you alright? Let me pick up the books for you," said a gentleman's voice. I was picking up my books but the familiar voice made me looked up. And that familiar voice actually belongs to someone who is very familiar to me. It's Ian Alexander Falken. The guy I had a crush on since middle school. "Oh. Thanks," I said nervously, trying to make a smile. "Hey, it's Ian!" said Eden surprisingly. "I think we should leave them alone. Let's go somewhere else," suggested Roxxi. "Hey, you're from Mr Mark's math class in middle school, right?" asked Ian. "Um...what's your name? I think it starts with the letter 'k' , right? Is it Katherine?" asked Ian while he look into my eyes. "Er...no, actually, it's Keira. Keira Evans," I said with a smile. "Oh ya! Uhh...I was thinking, do you wanna grab some..um.." asked Ian nervously. 'What is it?" I asked. Before he could say any word, my cell phone rang.



"Hello?" I said. "Hey, it's me, Roxxi. We have an emergency. Meet me outside the cafeteria," said Roxxi, panicked. I hang up the cell phone and said, “Uh, what were you saying just now?” I asked Ian. “Er…nothing. I mean I’ll ask you some other time,” said Ian nervously. “Okay, I gotta go, bye!” I said as I rush to meet Roxxi. As I reached the place, I asked Roxxi what had happened and I was told that a hot guy just asked Eden what time it was. “ After that guy asked that question, she froze and couldn’t talk” said Roxxi. “I think the shirt didn’t help,” whispered Roxxi. Roxxi and I tried our best to help Eden and finally everything was fine. A few minutes later, the bell rang and all of us rush into our respective classes.




“Ring!” the school bell rang. Everyone came out of their classes as school has ended. My best friends and I walked along the corridor as we talked to each other. “Hey, Eden, would you mind lending me the T-shirt you’re wearing?” I asked. “because maybe hot guys might ask me the time,” I said. “Don’t be ridiculous. I’m not gonna lend it to you,” said Eden. Then I told Eden that if she did not freeze just now, Ian might ask me out. “ I’m telling you, Ian really has nice green eyes,” I said. Eden apologized for making trouble and decided to treat Roxxi and I pizza after we get home.

Chapter Two

“Mom, have you seen my green sneakers?” “Um…I don’t think so, honey,” answered mom. “Erm…I think I know,” said Nick, my older brother whose abt to feed de fishes in de aquarium. “Chris!!” I shouted after seeing what’s in the aquarium n ran up to his bedroom. “He’s SO gonna get from me,” I murmured while climbing up de stairs. I knocked Chris’s bedroom door frantically. A few minutes later, Chris opened the door wif his earphones on him. “Dude,relax…what’s going on?” “you’re askin’ me what’s going on??? Now help me take my sneakers out of de fish tank!!” I shouted. “Oh, sorry, I wish I could help u but I’m late for my first date wif Jessica,” “Another date? How can u hav a date wif de hot Jessica when u always failed to impress de other girls during ur previous date??” “Now help me wif de sneakers!” “Why ask me? Btw, Nick is available,” “No,no,no,no,u did it, so u must take it back!” I replied. “Btw, u hav plenty more sneakers in de closet,” said Chris. “Fine! Then I’ll take it myself!” “ Well, if u say so,” said Chris wif a smile while closing his door.


I walked to de fish tank. “ Slowly, slowly,” I said. Finally, de sneakers were back. Man…it’s wet. Well…never mind. So, I wore it. “Mom, I’m going out wif my frens!” I shouted to my mom whose in de kitchen. “Alright, honey! Don’t be late for dinner!” “I won’t, mom,” I said. “ Dude, you’re still wearing those sneakers?” asked Nick whose climbing down de stairs. “ Who says I cant?” I replied. “ But you’re gonna get stinky feet like de guy next door,” “ What! He has stinky feet?” I said. “ Oops. My bad. I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone,” replied Nick.” At least he’s cute,” I said n went straight to de door, “ Want me to get u anything?” I asked Nick. “ Erm…no thanks,” “Alright then, bye,’



“Man, dis is so uncomfortable,” I whispered to myself on my way to de pizza café. “Wat took Keira so long?” asked Roxxi whose already at de café wif Eden . “Oh, let me think. I guess her twin-bro is making trouble wif her again,” said Eden. ‘Oh, there she is!” said Roxxi when she saw me at de entrance. “Sorry guys. Its Chris, he..” “We know. No need to explain” said Roxxi.” Dude, what’s wrong with ur sneakers? There’s a fish tail between de shoelaces,” asked Eden. “See, I told u, it’s Chris fault. He..” “ok, ok, no need to tell. I’ve heard too much abt Chris bugging u,” said Roxxi. “ But I’m telling u, he actually loves me but he jus doesn’t lyk to admit it,” I said. “Ya, I know, he’s cute,” said Eden. “Aha! U hav a crush on him, huh?” I asked Eden. “No I don’t. I jus thought dat he’s cute. Btw, Mike is still in my heart,” “Oh, ok. Oh ya! Remember the cute guy living nex to my house?” I asked. “Ya,” replied Eden n Roxxi at de same time. “ I just knew dat he has stinky feet,” “Eww…gross!” said Eden whose disgusted by it. “No…you’re kidding, right?” asked Roxxi. “ No I’m no. Nick jus told me abt it” “Urgh…” said Roxxi wif her disgusted face n dat was de 1st time I saw her changing her face expression since she's always with her 'scene' face. “And you’re gonna get stinky feet too,” said Eden. “Then I’ll spray deodorant on my feet,” I replied sarcastically. “Ok. It’s ur feet. So u take care of it. Ok?” said Eden. “ Of course I will,” I replied. “ Hey Keira, u haven’t even had a bite of de pizza. Take those, we left dem for u,” said Roxxi. “Aww…u both r so sweet,” I said. “Ya, ya, ya, quickly finish it up. We’re gonna be late for de sale,” told Roxxi.


“OMG! Isn't that Chris? And who’s that? Oh, it's Jessica!” said Eden whose shocked to see dem. "Where?" i asked. "Behind u!" said Roxxi. "When did they came?" I asked again. "They just arrived," replied Roxxi. "You both gotta help me," I said. "What? you're gonna ruin his date with Jessica?" asked Eden. "Yup, he jus spoilt my day by leaving my sneakers in the aquarium. So I'll spoil his too," i said while thinkin' of something 2 spoil his date. "Ok, i want both of u to go to Chris n pretend to be his girlfriend," I said. "Are you sure about this?" asked Eden. “Of course I am. Now go to him and remember not to tell him that I planned everything," I told them. " Ok," said Roxxi.



I went to the nearest wall and hide behind it so dat Chris doesn't see me. Now, let's talk abt Roxxi and Eden. Eden was a little scared to spoil Chris' date but Roxxi finally managed to calm her. "Chris, how dare you! I'm your girl fren and you're dating someone else?" shouted Roxxi. Then, Eden came and said, "Are you sick? I'm his girl friend," . Jessica started to confusd n asked Chris if it's true. "No, they're lying. You got to believe me, Jess," Chris pleaded. "No. He's lying," said Roxxi. "Ya," said Eden. Jessica shook her head n said, "Now it's obvious why you failed your previous dates," told Jessica disappointingly. She then took a glass of water and splashed it to Chris. He was so shocked dat he stood up n tried to stop Jessica whose leaving the place. "Jess, I can explain!" said Chris but Jessica just ignored what ever he said.


After she left, Chris sat on his seat; looking very heartbroken. "Now, tell me, who planned all this?" asked Chris to Roxxi n Eden. "Erm..." said eden. "Come on, tell me!' said Chris. Suddenly, his cell phone rang. He picked it up while hoping it was Jessica. "How's your date?" asked a sarcastic voice. Yes, it was me. Chris' face turned red n he asked, "You did it, didnt you, Keira?". Chris treid to calm himself. Suddenly, I felt guilty n couldnt stand seeing my brother being hurt so I apologized and told him to come home so that I could explain him everyting. Before he could say anything, I quickly hung up the phone. "She'll get it from me," said Chris angrily while leaving his seat. "Oh ouh, she's in trouble," said Eden. "Do you think we should stop him?" "No. Don't. You'll be in trouble too. Hey, let's go to de sale," said Roxxi. After Chris left de café, I came out from where I was hiding and thanked Roxxi and Eden for helping me and hurried my way out of the place.


As soon as I reached home, I quickly knocked Chris' bedroom door. "I said I'm sorry, please open the door," I begged him. I didn’t gave up on him so I sat in front of his bedroom door just hoping that he open the door soon.
